About Me

I’m Steph and I’m a swimmer. Well, I guess I’m more of a triathlete now, but I was a swimmer first.

I  moved to Tampa, Florida in January 2012 after spending almost 7 years in Washington, DC. While in DC, I met Chloe, and we started this little blog in February of 2011. Chloe and I blogged together for about a year before life got busy and pulled Chloe away from blogging. I’ve continued to blog solo and I’ve been writing about my adventures in food and triathlon ever since.

I’m from a small beach-town in New Jersey (and no, I don’t watch the Jersey Shore- THEY AREN’T EVEN FROM NEW JERSEY!), then moved half way across the country to go to college in the midwest. I went to Wheaton College, where I was on the varsity swim team and studied sociology. I became increasingly interested in urban education issues and was accepted into Teach for America, which brought me to DC.  I taught for two years, and then starting working at an education non-profit.

In March of 2011, I met an amazing man on a plane ride home from Grand Cayman Island. His name is Bill and he keeps a smile on my face.

Someday I’ll write a post about how we met; not gonna lie, its a darn cute story 🙂

Anyhow, he lived in Orlando, which was pretty stinkin’ far from DC. We realized that we had something special, so when an employment opportunity in Tampa opened up, I took a chance and made the move to Florida.

The move to Florida has been fabulous. I get to see Bill a lot, the weather is awesome, and I’ve got an incredible group of triathlon teammates whom I call my closest friends.

Join me as I share my training, recipes, and everyday life. Who knows where this crazy adventure we call life will take us!

Aw thanks Dana! I haven’t ventured into the gf world yet, but I’m looking to get my feet wet, since I know so many people with gluten sensitivity! I’m so glad we are reconnecting virtually- can’t wait to reconnect in person soon!!
