FAQ

Below are some questions that will help you get to know me a little better 🙂 But feel free to ask away and I’ll answer the best we can!

1) Why 321delish?

This blog started out as a collaboration between me and my friend Chloe. We were both living in DC at the time, training for triathlons (we actually met at the pool), and we shared a passion for good food. We had recently started reading “healthy living blogs” and really enjoyed the stories shared by women just like us- who were trying to balance work, life, and staying healthy. Why couldn’t we do that? And do it as a pair to ease the load a bit?

So, after hours of back and forth about what our name might be, we finally decided on 321delish: 3 sports, 2 friends, 1 delicious obsession (food, duh). We posted our first post on February 14, 2011.

We blogged together as a pair for about 6 months, before life started to get really hectic for both of us. I continued to blog when I could, and after I moved to Florida, I really took the blog on as my own.

Chloe and I are still friends, and the invitation is always open for her to blog here.

2) How did you get into triathlon?

I did my first triathlon in 2008 as part of Team in Training. I had been a swimmer in college, and though I had recently taken to running to maintain my fitness, I was looking to get back in the pool. I didn’t want to join a master’s team- I had already had my fair share of two-hour practices 6 days/week. I figured a tri would get me back in the pool, but not for an atrocious amount of time.

TNT was taking a team to the Philly Tri, and I thought that would be a great race to do. So, I went to an informational meeting and signed up. I’ve been hooked ever since.

3) What is your favorite food?

This is such a tough question for me! I love food, and there are few occasions where I turn up my nose. I’m also quite the indecisive person, so that makes this question extra tricky. But, if I had to pick one (um, or three?), I’d go with peanut butter (especially with bananas or dark chocolate).  Creamy or chunky? No matter. Salted or unsalted? Depends on my mood (or what is on sale at the grocery store). I love it in my oatmeal, or on toast, or in my ice cream, or in a noodle dish…I could probably eat it on just about anything. (That’s not a challenge!)

4) What is the coolest place  you have traveled to?

ALASKA! Summer 2013 I had an opportunity to hike the Chilkoot trail with my boyfriend. It was an absolutely incredible experience that I recapped in a ridiculous amount of posts. Check em out: Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

5) What is your favorite race memory?

I think my favorite race memory is probably crossing the line of my first half ironman, Rev3 Florida. You never forget your first race of a distance, and this was pretty significant. It was a hot, hot day, and despite a disappointing half marathon, I still finished within 5 minutes of my goal time. I really enjoyed this distance- you can bet there will be more of it!
