Marathon Training: Week 1

Hi friends! Thanks for all the awesome responses to my “So Long, DC” post! In case ya missed it, I’m on my way down to Florida this week, so it’s going to be a busy week! Sunday we stopped in North Carolina to hang out with my cousin, and then we hit the road on Monday and headed for Savannah. Today’s the big move-in day!

Since I’m kinda sorta in the middle of this big life move thing, this will just be a quick recap of my first week of marathon training. Stay tuned later this week for a guest post from the lovely Lauren!

What the schedule called for:

How it actually went down:

Sunday: I was on my way back to DC from my 8 day cruise. Does walking around the airport count as cross training?

Monday: 3 x 1600 (treadmill); each 1600 was @7.7 and Yoga.

Tuesday: Last day of work; didn’t get a workout in.

Wednesday: Treadmill tempo run and Yoga.

5 miles. Mile 3 @7.0; Mile 4 @7.1

Thursday: 6 mile run (outside!)

I forgot to upload my Garmin data before I packed it away in my car somewhere! But I averaged 8:43/mile. Not bad for me! I’m gonna count that as my long run for the week!

Friday: Rest Day/Danced the night away at my going away party

Saturday: Last Yoga class at my gym 😦

Total miles: 14

Life sorta got in the way of training this week, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. I got in all my running workouts (minus one mile), and some cross training too, mostly in the form of yoga. I’m really looking forward to finding a yoga studio in Tampa! Week 2 will be tough to stick to the schedule since I’m driving to FL at the beginning of the week and then moving into my new apartment, but I’ll do what I can.
