So, did any of you take advantage of the 11.11.11 discount for the Rock N’ Roll Race series?
I certainly did! I know $20 off isn’t a huge discount, but its hard for me to turn down a discounted or free race. So, when I saw that there would be a registration sale on Friday, I couldn’t resist.
I may have gone a little registration crazy and signed up for not one, but two Rock n’ Roll races!
First, in March, I’ll be taking a 13.1 mile run through my lovely town of DC!
I signed up for the Rock N Roll USA half marathon, which lands smack dab in the middle of my marathon training. Marathon training? Yes, friends, I also signed up for a FULL Marathon!
I’ll be doing the Country Music Marathon!
I had thought about doing the Miami marathon on my birthday, but to train properly I would have needed to start training right after my last tri. And, my plan would have had me running 20 miles on Christmas. No thank you.
Instead, I’ll be cruising through Nashville in April to the sounds of live music and lots of crowd support. (Hopefully!!) I’ll be racing with a few of my DC friends, some who are doing the half and others doing the full. And, my college roommate also lives in Nashville, so I’ll get a chance to visit her and her two adorable sons!
This time friends, I plan on following a training plan. I think my marathon time from 2006 (my first and only marathon) was somewhere between 4:30 and 4:45. Based on McMillan’s calculator, I should be able to run a sub 2 hour half marathon, and a sub 4:00 marathon! Um, what?!?! That’s incredibly ambitious for me I think, but as Dorothy has been talking a lot about recently on her blog, why not dream big? If I train hard, and train right, who knows what I’ll be able to do? My official training starts in January, and I can’t wait to take you along on my journey!
Question of the day: Did you sign up for any Rock N Roll Races? Who’s doing DC? I know there’s a bunch of you out there!!
