Did You Know…

21 07 2011

**I interrupt this sentence to express my thanks for all of the kind words that were shared in response to my post on Tuesday about Musselman 70.3. It really meant a lot to me!

And back to the show…Did you know, that:

  • Diet Coke was first introduced in 1982;

  • Most cows produce more milk when they listen to music;
  • Hawaii is the only U.S.  State that grows coffee beans;

  • Only 11% of people are left handed and that stewardesses is the longest word that is typed only with your left hand;
  • The longest word that can be typed with your right hand is lollipop;
  • All of the blinking that you do in one day is equal to about 30 minutes of time with your eyes closed;
  • A 1 minute kiss burns 26 calories;

  • Women’s hearts beat faster than men’s;
  • You can’t tickle yourself;

  • A hippopotamus can run faster than a man;

  • A person will die faster from lack of sleep than from starvation;
  • Acorns are poisonous to humans;
  • Americans eat over 35,000 tons of pasta a year;

  • You have to eat 11 lbs of potatoes to put on 1 lb of weight;
  • Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries;

  • Macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs;
  • Almonds are members of the peach family;
  • American’s spend $10 million a day on potato chips;

  • And LAST but NOT LEAST….my middle name is Clothilde.

Question of the Day: Do you have any “did you knows” of your own?

Hawaii is also the only state in the U.S. where cocoa is grown. Another reason to visit.

I love these little facts! Something that I like doing is to look up why we say certain phrases. Example: “it’s raining cats and dogs.” I guess back the day when houses were made with thatches roofs the animals would sleep ontop of them. When it rained really hard they would fall through the roofs. Hence were we get our saying from 🙂

This one’s fun. Starting from any article within Wikipedia, if you click on the first link in the first sentence of that article (ignoring pronunciation and etymology links), and then click on the first link of that article, and continue clicking the first link of each subsequent article, you will end up at “Philosophy”.
