A Little Sweat, a Little Surf, a Little Sweet

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I hope you all have some fun plans for tonight! Chloe and I are headed out with some girlfriends after work. Stay tuned for a recap:)

I realized earlier this week that I hadn’t seen Chloe in TWO weeks, so we made plans to catch up over a run and dinner. What a fantastic way to spend Wednesday night!

We met after work ready for a run. Chloe was a little worried about being sore/stiff from her fall on Sunday so we just took it slow and enjoyed ourselves 🙂

Chloe had mapped out a few different distances, but we decided to just run at our own pace and see how we felt. We gabbed the whole time (of course), and by the time we made it back to our starting point, we had gone 6.85 miles. This is only the second time Chloe and I have actually run together, but the time always seems to go by so fast, and we get a great workout in.

We had talked about grabbing some Cosi salads afterward to satisfy our veggie craving, but with a mile left in our run, Chloe suggested Surfside in Glover Park. I have been wanting to go there for a long time, so I immediately agreed.

This was the best 2nd best decision of the night. (keep reading!)

Surfside is this fun, casual (clearly; we were in our sweaty running clothes), beach-themed restaurant serving up fresh tacos, burritos, rice bowls, quesadillas, and salads. The even have rooftop seating, which, had it been a bit warmer, we totally would have taken advantage of.

These aren’t your typical Chipotle burritos either:

For our meals, Chloe customized a salad:

Romaine and Mixed greens, grilled red onions, grilled zucchini, grilled mushrooms, shrimp, raspberry vinagrette

And I got the Maui:

Maui: grilled fish of the day in corn tortillas, with black bean + corn salsa, guacamole, cilantro + lime sour cream

I saw “black beans” and “guacamole” and didn’t need to look any further. So much for my veggies eh? Guacamole counts, right? It’s green!

Hit. The. Spot.

We both devoured our meals, probably in record time;-) What a great way to refuel after a run.

Now, we all know that Chloe loves ice cream, so she kindly reminded me that her favorite ice cream/fro yo spot was just a mile down the road. So, despite being full from our delicious dinner, we drove down to Thomas Sweet Ice Cream Co.

Now this was the best decision of the night:

We both got half Peanut Butter and half Snickers flavored soft serve frozen yogurt. SO DELICIOUS. I think this place has become a new favorite of mine too! Even though its not quite ice-cream weather yet, and we ran back to my car and turned up the heat, this was SUCH a great way to end the night.

A run, dinner, and dessert with my favorite workout buddy and super friend. I’d say that’s an evening I’d gladly repeat!
